A Somersworth Dental Practice Built on Education, Prevention, and Quality
Choosing a dental office is a big decision. You want skilled care, a clean and welcoming environment, and a team that explains your options clearly. At Godfrey Dentistry in Somersworth, NH, we built our practice around three core values, which are oral health, prevention, and high-quality care. We believe a healthy mouth supports a healthier body, and every part of our office is designed to help patients keep their natural teeth and enjoy lasting health.
Many of our patients are doctors, dentists, hygienists, and other health care professionals who place a high value on their own wellness. They choose us for the same reasons we hope you will. Here is a closer look at what sets our general, family, and cosmetic dental practice apart.
Dr. Bracken Godfrey is among a very small group of general dentists with advanced credentials. He is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry and a Diplomate of the American Board of General Dentistry, certifications held by less than 1 percent of the roughly 200,000 dentists nationwide. Earning a Diplomate designation took three additional years of specialized training beyond dental school.
For patients, these credentials mean a dentist who holds himself to a higher standard and keeps learning throughout his career. He reviews the latest scientific evidence and applies it to every exam, cleaning, and treatment plan. You can learn more about his training and awards on our About page.
Dental care runs in the family. Dr. Godfrey is a third-generation dentist, and nine members of his family have chosen the same profession. That background shaped a deep respect for patient trust, careful treatment, and care that lasts.
Dental technology and techniques change quickly, and we make a point of staying current. Dr. Godfrey completes many hours of continuing education every year, and he takes part in monthly study clubs with dentists who share a goal of improving care in the community. He also voluntarily serves on an advisory board for a leading dental education provider that supports dentists pursuing clinical excellence.
His ongoing education includes several respected programs and study groups.
- Spear Study Club
- Woody Rupp Study Club for Clinical Excellence
- Zimmer Pathways Program
- Smart Choice Oral Surgery
This commitment allows us to bring newer techniques and equipment into everyday care, from routine cleanings to implant restorations and other restorative treatment.
Our hygiene visits are different from the traditional cleaning you may be used to. We offer Guided Biofilm Therapy, a systematic approach to professional cleanings that has been described as the biggest change in dental hygiene in 66 years. Only a small number of offices in New Hampshire provide it.
Guided Biofilm Therapy uses a gentle, step-by-step process to reveal and remove plaque, stains, and harmful bacteria. Patients often notice several benefits.
- A more comfortable cleaning experience, including for patients with sensitive teeth
- More thorough removal of biofilm, the main cause of cavities and gum disease
- A healthier mouth that is easier to maintain between visits
- Clear guidance on home care so results last
It is one more way we put prevention at the center of your care.
The best dental treatment is the one you never need. That is why our practice is proactive rather than reactive. Regular exams, thorough screenings, and personalized home care guidance help us find concerns early, before they become more costly, painful, or inconvenient to fix.
At your first visit, you receive a comprehensive exam with digital radiographs, intraoral images, an evaluation of your teeth and gums, a TMJ and bite assessment, an oral cancer screening, and an airway assessment. We then review the findings in plain language and build a customized treatment plan. The decision to move forward is always yours. See what to expect on our New Patients page.
You should not have to visit several offices to meet your family’s dental needs. Godfrey Dentistry offers comprehensive care in one convenient location in Somersworth. From a child’s first visit through every stage of life, our team provides the services families rely on most.
Our services include the following.
- General dentistry with exams, cleanings, and preventive care
- Family dentistry for patients of all ages
- Restorative dentistry such as fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, and implant restorations
- Cosmetic dentistry, including whitening, veneers, and cosmetic bonding
- Periodontal care for gum disease
- Oral surgery, including tooth extractions and wisdom teeth removal
Because one team handles your care, treatment stays coordinated and consistent from visit to visit.
We invest in modern dental technology so patients can receive precise, comfortable care and understand what is happening in their own mouths. Digital imaging lets us show you exactly what we see, which makes treatment recommendations easier to understand.
We also believe informed patients make better decisions. Our office offers patient education videos from Spear, a respected name in dental education, so you can learn about procedures and treatment options at your own pace.
Patient safety is a top priority. Our infection control protocols go beyond recommended standards of care, and our team partners with Dental Office Compliance of New England to meet OSHA and CDC guidelines through regular training. Read about the measures we take on our Patient Safety page.
We want cost and coverage to be clear from the start. We accept all dental insurance plans except Medicaid. We are in-network with Delta Dental Premier, and we offer financing through Sunbit. Our team will review your benefits and explain your estimated costs before treatment begins. Visit our Insurance and Financing page for details.
